Rock the Cave

Adventures await you high above ground and deep below it in this spectacular 2-day experience.  Start by making your way outside of Chiang Mai to where limestone karst formations begin to rise above the bamboo forests and rice paddies.  Gear up in the care of our expert instructors, and then head deep underground for an unforgettable caving adventure.

One highlight of Rock the Cave is getting to learn the fundamental skills of big-time caving from passionate local cavers. Your tour starts with you being introduced to your equipment. Then take a high entrance into Anxiety State Crisis cave and traverse along the side of the airy main passage before rappelling 30 meters into the abyss.

Enjoy a delicious Thai lunch in the company of bats by the light of your headlamp.  Then spend a few hours exploring the massive river passageway that few have ever seen. Discover sparkling cave features, encounter bizarre creatures, and wind your way through wild tunnels of white limestone. Finish your day by ascending the rope back to the light of day with the satisfaction of having finished the first stage of a great adventure.  This adventure does requires some athletic ability.

The rock climbing portion of this adventure will take you high above the Mae On valley with spectacular views of the villages and rice fields below.  Spend the morning climbing with the most experienced guides in Thailand on some of the most unique limestone climbing Thailand has to offer.  After lunch you will head up to the top of Crazy Horse Buttress and rappel 40 meters into one of the many caves in the area.

What to Bring:

Closed-toed sport shoes and athletic clothing (socks and change of clothing are recommended). Consider bringing a reusable water bottle, mosquito spray, and sun screen.

*Caving and climbing days are determined by availability.

*During some times of the year there is water in the cave so be prepared to get wet.
