Lampang Family Experience 2025

Experience the wonder and thrill of rock climbing and caving in the spectacular Northern Thailand province of Lampang.

You will discover prehistoric rock art, camp in a local farmstead, and explore mystical caves while immersing yourself in the beauty and diversity of Northern Thai culture.

On the first day, you will begin your adventure with an introductory climbing course at Progression Vertical Climbing Gym in Chiang Mai. You will learn essential skills for outdoor climbing, ensuring you are prepared for the challenges ahead.

On the second day, you will travel to Lampang Province, an ancient capital of Northern Thailand. You will stop at the famous Tung Kwan Market to enjoy local delicacies before heading to the stunning limestone cliffs of Tan Por Bor (Commander Wall) for a day of climbing. As the day winds down, you will settle into a charming local farmstay, soak your feet in a stream, explore the surrounding area, and enjoy a farm-fresh meal under the stars.

On the third day, you will hike through the wilderness to uncover a hidden cave entrance and rappel into a mesmerizing underground world filled with bats, ancient rock formations, and possibly cave-adapted racer snakes. You will explore prehistoric rock art dating back 12,000 years and visit a local ethnic minority market to experience the region's unique culture and flavors.

On the fourth and final day, you will enjoy another thrilling climbing experience at Lampang’s breathtaking limestone cliffs. You will challenge yourself with a via ferrata ascent, climbing a steel ladder 30 meters up inside a cave before exiting through the mountain and rappelling back to the ground. You will conclude your adventure and return to Chiang Mai.

  • Day 1 - Top Rope Essentials Course at Progression Vertical, Chiang Mai
  • Day 2 - Travel to Lampang, climb at Tan Por Bor (Commander Wall), camp at homestay
  • Day 3 - Cave rappelling at Tham Pha Thai, Pratu Pha rock art and local market, camp at homestay
  • Day 4 - Rock climbing and rappelling at Lampang limestone cliffs, via ferrata adventure, return to Chiang Mai
