We’re making it easy for you to experience the best of Chiang Mai’s adventure opportunities in just 2 days.  An action-packed day of rock climbing and rappelling at Crazy Horse Buttress concludes with an evening at your leisure.  Don’t go out too hard, though, since in the morning you will launch from near the summit of Doi Suthep on a downhill mountain bike ride.  Cruise fabulous trails through lychee orchards, coffee plantations, and hill tribe village, then finish cooling your feet at the relaxing Huay Tung Tao reservoir.

In the morning, meet your guides, collect your gear, and head about 45 minutes out of town into Mae On Valley. Crazy Horse Buttress is our local limestone climbing area, and is littered with cliffs and caves of every type.We will spend the morning teaching you the basics of rock climbing.  Surrounded by the lush bamboo forest, you will learn all the skills taught in our Introduction to Rock Climbing course, including climbing technique, safe belaying practices, and how to have an amazing time scaling cliffs up to 25 meters tall.

Midday will find us tucking into a Thai boxed lunch from the local restaurant.  Once recharged, we trek up towards the summit of Crazy Horse and rappel down 55 meters into the vast cave chamber inside the mountain. Whether or not you have rappelled before, this exciting drop is something you will never forget. We love that this abseil is perceived as dangerous and exciting to everyone who sees it, but that it is actually incredibly safe under the supervision of our experienced guides. This means big time adventure with very little risk. A quick walk through this fantastic cave brings us outside and back to our truck.

After an evening at leisure in Chiang Mai, you will hitch up with our partner company Mountain Biking Chiang Mai to experience world-class downhill trails on the slopes of Doi Suthep.  Starting up near the summit, you will ride through highland villages and orchards.  Recharge half-way with a cup of fresh coffee from the Chiang Mai University agricultural project.  Mid-afternoon, you will roll up to Huay Tung Tao reservoir at the base of the mountain.  Celebrate with a cold drink — or, for the most adventurous, with a taste Chiang Mai’s freshest and freakiest delicacy: Goong Dten (Dancing Shrimp).
