Multi Pitch Transitions and Efficiency

  • Duration: 9 Hours

Have you ever had to deal with a knotty rope while hanging on an anchor 3 pitches up?  Have you ever had to rappel multiple pitches in the dark?  Take this course and learn some simple tricks that will eliminate knotty ropes and will get you home before dark.

This course focuses primarily on rope management during multi-pitch climbs.  Knowing how to stack a rope when swapping leads is one of the most important things when trying to climb efficiently on a multi-pitch.  Knowing where to clip each climber into the anchor will eliminate knots and confusion.  Thinking ahead about who is climbing first each pitch and in what direction they will leave will change how smooth your transitions are.

Our senior guides have advanced guide training in how to manage these transitions and manage the rope like a pro so that the unnecessary rope tangle or the classic crawl over the belayer to get to the next pitch doesn't happen.  They know how to think ahead and to fix things before they happen.  Let them share this knowledge with you so you can get the most out of your multi-pitch day and make it home before dark.
